More information about career advice.
The Career Service is here to help students (and recent graduates) in their transition to the job market. That's why we organise various activities throughout the year, including:
• Job Fair – The job fair is a great opportunity to get to know different organizations and see what appeals to you. Organizations will also give pitches, and you’ll have the opportunity to have your resume reviewed or get a professional photo taken. There will also be a stylist on hand to help you choose the right outfit for a job interview.
• Brussels Visit – The visit to Brussels offers students an excellent opportunity to explore career opportunities in Brussels. During this day, students will visit various organizations that are characteristic of Brussels. The day will conclude with a networking dinner with alumni who work and live in the city.
• Speed Dating – During Speed Dating, you’ll have the chance to talk with multiple employers and discover which organizations appeal to you. In small groups, you’ll rotate through all the organizations in 10-minute rounds, allowing you to get to know many organizations in a short amount of time.
• Meet the Employer – potential employers introduce themselves and present specific opportunities within their organizations to students. Are you already exploring opportunities after graduation? Meet your future employer here and learn more about the possibilities available to you in 45-minute sessions per organization. This event is aimed at third-year and master’s students.
• Career Launch - As the academic year draws to a close, soon-to-be graduates will start looking for job openings. How can you make sure your resume stands out? This event will prepare you to enter the job market as a recent graduate through workshops, a CV check, and the opportunity to have a professional photo taken.
Workshops and training related to job market preparation – to learn all the necessary skills. For example, workshops such as ‘Networking & LinkedIn’, ‘CV & Cover letter writing’, or ‘Motivations’.
In this overview, you will find all the workshops and courses you can participate in.

Do you want to have your CV reviewed by a career advisor? Make use of our email service.
Procedure: first, review the CV checklist to optimise your CV. You can find the checklist in the Career Workbook.
If you have made your own changes and are satisfied, send an email with your CV attached (Pdf, NOT Word or Image) to careerservice@fgga.leidenuniv.nl, mentioning ‘cv-check’. PLEASE NOTE! Clearly indicate the position(s) you are applying for (type of position + job title + link to vacancy). This is the only way we can assist you effectively.
