Job interview
It's finally happening: your (many) applications have paid off, your resume and cover letter have paid off, and you've been invited for an interview! What now?
Job interview
For a successful job interview, preparing well for the interview and practicing for it are the most important things you can think about. You'll find that when you go into an interview well-prepared, you'll be much more relaxed and perhaps less nervous during the interview itself.
In preparing for your job interview, the STARR method can play a significant role in supporting you. It's a way to provide clear, concise, and concise answers using examples.
After all, the more concrete examples you can provide regarding your skills and experience, the better you'll perform.
Practicing a job interview and reviewing all sorts of questions you might be asked will also help you feel more comfortable going into an interview.
Online job interviews
It's becoming increasingly common to have online job interviews via video call, or another online platform. In principle, you can assume the same rules apply to a regular in-person job interview.
Please carefully read the information about online job interviews in general, and the accompanying information about the STARR method and online video interviews:

It will help you, regardless of a scheduled job interview, to identify your motivation for doing something, what experience and skills you bring to the table, and to think of examples you could use during an interview.
This assignment is designed to do just that.
- Briefly state your motivation for a position you find interesting. Why are you applying for this position? For example, use the vacancies you searched for in previous steps.
- Briefly describe your suitability for the position. Why should they hire you? Also use the information from your cover letter, your personal profile and (career) profile.
- Think of 3 skills, such as your strengths, that you would like to discuss in an interview. Use the information from your personal profile.
- For each of the 3 skills you identified, provide a concrete example of a situation in which you demonstrated your competence using the STARR method and write out the example.
- Then practice talking about these 3 skills (what you are good at) using the concrete STARR examples you provided with someone else.
- Also practice these questions online via Teams for example with someone else. Use the tips from Applying Online.
- Finally, go over the sample questions in the job interview information, so that you get an idea of what to expect during an interview.
